The Health and Safety Executive launches new strategy to tackle work-related ill health with Penny M

The Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work, Penny Mordaunt MP will today (Thur 15 Dec) pledge her support for a new strategy for health in Britain’s workplaces. The Heath and Work strategy engagement is launched at a time when stress and musculoskeletal disorders account for around 80 percent of all working time lost due to illness. Statistics from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that is opening the conversation and publishing the strategy show around 12,000 deaths each year from occupational lung diseases, accounting for 90 percent of estimated deaths related to past exposures at work. Forces personnel get work on civvy street 'in months' - Portsmouth News

Great stuff regarding the Portsmouth News article on armed forces personnel getting back into civilian jobs post service careers. Even though these figures are great we can't take our eye off of the fact there are some people from the armed forces who struggle to find work. There is understandably a huge amount of focus to ensure our armed forces personnel who have been made fragile through their service are supported. But this is very much the minority. Our armed forces are the biggest education supplier in the country and provide world-class training. So rather than the perception of a career in the armed forces breaking people it actually builds them up and helps open new doors for them.

Penny Mordaunt MP opens the Carols in College Park and Roving Nativity

Penny Mordaunt MP joined local Copnor City Councillors Robert New and Neill Young as well as local volunteers from the Copnor Residents Association, Copnor Methodist Church and carol singers to bring this years Roving Nativity and Carols in College Park to life.
