Penny Mordaunt MP: Thank you

I want to thank everyone who has sent messages of support and appreciation to me, my staff and colleagues, and to pay tribute to the victims of these tragic events. It is of tremendous comfort to receive such notes at times like these. I know many have been very upset and moved by what has happened, some constituents wanting to come to London to pay their respects to PC Keith Palmer and the other victims. What I will remember of the last week is the courage, fortitude and kindness of so many people during the event and afterwards: the Canadian tourist medic, who had planned to visit Parliament with his children, helping tend the victims on the bridge, the response of medical staff and the em

At the weekend one of my colleagues, an SNP MP, claimed that she hated being an MP. She found the work tedious, felt she had not accomplished anything and disliked many of the people she had to work with. I am sorry that she feels this way: everyone should do a job they love. I am very aware of these concerns having been the victim of such abuse which resulted in an individual receiving a

What do McDonald’s, TSB Bank, Admiral and Bourne Leisure all have in common? They’ve all been named in the top ten Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For this week, and appreciate their employees. They’re also all Disability Confident – a member of our scheme encouraging inclusive employment for disabled people. Both these things define an inclusive, forward thinking and reputable employer. One of the reasons these companies were deemed to be good to work for was because they ensured the wellbeing of their employee, a crucial element of a Disability Confident employer. Ensuring that your team feel secure and valued in the workplace is essential to productivity and morale. The health at work
