Government’s Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme is now live

Dear Ms Mordaunt, I want to update you that the UK Government’s Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme is now live on GOV.UK. Employers with fewer than 250 employees can now claim for Coronavirus-related Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). Tax agents are also able to make claims on their behalf. The repayment will cover up to two weeks of the applicable rate of SSP. For more information on eligibility and how to make a claim please visit GOV.UK. Which employers can use the Scheme? Dear Penny Mordaunt, Coronavirus Community Support Fund is open. As you may have heard on Wednesday, via the Government’s daily briefing, we are pleased to share that the Coronavirus Community Support Fund opened at 10am on Friday. The new funding stream makes available £200m in Government funding that will be aimed primarily at small to medium organisations in England. This will be distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund and will provide much-needed financial support to communities across England. The Job Retention Scheme will be extended.

From the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak: 1/ The job retention scheme will be extended, for four months, until the end of October. By that point, we will have provided eight months of support to British people and businesses. Until the end of July, there will be no changes to the scheme whatsoever. 2/ From August to October the scheme will continue, for all sectors and regions of the UK, but with greater flexibility to support the transition back to work.
